The Harold's Cross Hospice in Dublin has confirmed that 45 beds are to be closed temporarily to meet budget requirements.

The beds in the Rheumatology Rehabilitation Unit and the Community Rehabilitation Unit will be closed from the second week in November until the second week in January.

The Hospice management said that it was in discussion with the HSE on providing alternative care for the 57 patients involved.

It said its palliative care would not be affected.
