More details have emerged about a robbery at a fire station which was carried out while the crew were responding to an emergency call.

The thieves targeted Bray Fire Station, Co Wicklow, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The station is situated off the Boghall road, on the south side of Bray, near the town centre.

Firemen were responding to an emergency call when their lockers were ransacked.

Their wallets were stolen along with other personal items.

Gardaí say CCTV footage shows that one man broke into the station first and stole a car using keys he found there.

He then drove that car to bring another man back to the station who robbed a second car.

Both cars have been found. One was completely written off.

Gardaí say that the scene at the Boghall road has been examined.

Investigating officers say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
