A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault on David Keohane in Sydney in August.
Mr Keohane suffered serious head injuries on Kidman Street in Coogee around 3am on Saturday 9 August.
He is still in an induced coma, and was flown home last month.
Eastern Beaches Police arrested the 20-year-old Bankstown man at Bankstown Police Station around 3.30pm today (6.30am Irish time).
Police then searched a house in Meredith Street, Bankstown where detectives seized several items.
The man was subsequently charged with attempted murder and aggravated robbery with wounding.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court tomorrow.
The man's 19-year-old girlfriend has also been charged with hindering police and concealing the offence.
