RTÉ.ie is Ireland’s leading media website according to the Joint National Internet Research results released today.
The results cover the period from July 2007 to June 2008 and report 177,000 weekly users for RTÉ.ie, placing it 81,000 ahead of its closest media website competitor.
A total of 454,000 users have viewed RTÉ.ie in the last 12 months and this represents 25% of all Internet users aged over 15.
Among RTÉ.ie's weekly users, the strongest demographics are 25-44-year-olds, accounting for 55% of weekly visits.
Commenting on the results, Executive Director of RTÉ Publishing, Múirne Laffan said: 'We are delighted with the recent JNIR figures further endorsing RTÉ.ie's position as Ireland's leading media website.
'The fact that 39% of Irish adults who have ever visited RTÉ.ie in the last 12 months have visited in the last week, indicates the traction of the site and shows that our users like what they see and keep coming back.'
While men still account for the majority of weekly users at 56%, more women are logging onto the site with 78,000 weekly female users.

RTÉ.ie covers news, current affairs, sport and entertainment in text, audio and video formats, and provides over 60 hours of RTÉ television programming on-demand per week.
In addition, RTÉ's four national radio stations are streamed live worldwide on the site and approximately 80% of shows are available to listen to on-demand after the live programme.
