Poland's Fakt tabloid has launched weekly Polish-language editions for Ireland and Britain.

Most of the content of the 32-page Fakt dla Wielkiej Brytanii (Fakt for Great Britain) and Fakt dla Irlandii (Fakt for Ireland) will focus on Poles living and working in both countries, editor-in-chief Jan Domaniewski said.

'Above all, the objective is to help Polish immigrants live and work in Britain and Ireland,' he said.

Both titles will come out weekly, with print runs of 20,000 copies in Britain and 13,000 in Ireland. Local reporters will produce the content, with editing taking place in Warsaw.

The Polish communities in Ireland and Britain grew significantly after Poland joined the EU in May 2004, enabling its citizens to seek jobs elsewhere in the bloc without the need for work visas.

An estimated 1m Poles now live in Ireland and Britain.

Fakt, which is owned by Germany's Axel Springer media group, was launched in 2003. It now is Poland's top-selling daily newspaper, with an average print run of 506,211 copies.
