A man has been arrested following a drugs seizure in Dublin this afternoon.

The 20-year-old, who is from DR Congo, was arrested during a joint operation involving the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Customs Service at Peters Street.

Between 5kg and 6kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of up to €400,000 was seized.

The man is being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Pearse Street Garda Station and is due to appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing to question three men in connection with the seizure of €100,000 worth of heroin in Co Cork yesterday evening.

0.5kg of heroin and drugs paraphernalia were recovered in Brook Lodge in Glanmire at about 4.45pm.

The men, who are in their 20s, are being detained at Cobh Garda Station where they can be held for up to seven days.
