The victim of last night's shooting in Dublin has been named locally as 39-year-old Paul Martin.

A second man is in a stable condition in hospital following the organised crime-style attack in Finglas.

The Jolly Toper pub in Finglas was packed when a number of gunmen wearing balaclavas entered just before 7pm.

They went upstairs, singled out their victims and shot both men a number of times.

The victims were brought to the Mater Hospital where one of the men later died.

The second man, who was in his 30s, remains in a stable condition in hospital.

It is believed that Mr Martin was known to gardaí and they are still investigating the motive behind the attack.

Gardaí have also appealed for anyone who may have seen a dark coloured vehicle on Church Street to contact them.

The man injured in the shooting remains in a stable condition at the Mater Hospital.
