A man has been hospitalised after being stabbed a number of times in Carlow town early this morning.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to St Luke's General Hospital Kilkenny. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

It is understood the attack happened at around 6am in the Dargan Lawns, Burrin Road.

The culprit in the incident is a man who is believed to have fled the scene with his shirt badly torn.
