A newly married British woman has been killed and her husband is in critical condition after a shooting during their Caribbean honeymoon.
The couple are believed to have been shot by intruders during a botched robbery in their cottage at a hotel in Antigua during the early hours of Sunday.
Catherine Mullany, a doctor from the Pontardawe area of south Wales, was killed at the scene.
Her husband, Benjamin, is fighting for his life in intensive care.
Britain’s Foreign Office said their families had been informed, and that Antiguan police had launched an investigation.
The couple, both aged 31, were staying at Cocos Hotel near Valley Church in the south west of the island after marrying on 12 July.
Local police were reported in the media as saying several shots were fired when an intruder or intruders appear to have broken into the cottage at about 5am and confronted the couple.
