A murder inquiry has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in a house in the Shantallow area of Derry.
Police say the body of 30-year-old Jean Quigley, who came from the area, was found in a house at Cornsheld Fields.
She was the mother of four children.
It has been revealed that her body was discovered by a relative who was returning her children after taking them for a day out.
Local SDLP councillor Shaun Gallagher, who visited the scene today, said the community was stunned.
'People are waking up to this terrible news this morning and there is shock right throughout the community. People can't believe that something like this has happened in this area,' he said.
The PSNI major investigation team is appealing to the public for information.
