A 34-year-old man has been shot dead in Coolock in Dublin.
He has been named locally as Anthony Foster, who gardaí say had only been recently released from prison.
Mr Foster was shot on the stairwell of a block of flats in Cromcastle Court at around 1.45pm this afternoon.
Gardaí believe a shotgun was used in the attack.
The area has been sealed off for forensic technical examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.
Gardaí have sealed off a motorbike shop near where Mr Foster was shot dead. A bike was stolen from the shop recently and gardaí are investigating whether this bike was used in the murder.
Two cars have also been removed for forensic examination from the car park at Cromcastle Court.
