A Cork teenager has been charged with possessing a semi-automatic weapon.

The 15-year-old boy appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court.

The youth, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with possessing a Glock pistol, a magazine and seven rounds of ammunition at Barnagore, in Ovens on Thursday.

29-year-old Martin Geasley of Radharc na Coille, Rathcoole, Co Cork was charged with a similar offence when he too was brought before the court.

Gardaí objected to bail for both and they were remanded in custody until Monday.
