A man is to appear before a special sitting of Tullamore District Court tonight at 11.15pm.
The 46-year-old man was arrested in Dublin yesterday afternoon by gardaí investigating the murder of Christy Hanley in Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.
He has since been detained in Athlone Garda Station.
Christy Hanley was found dead on 22 May in a house on Main St, Kilbeggan.
The 83-year-old farmer had suffered a number of injuries which contributed to his death.
