Two people remain in hospital following three gun attacks in Dublin yesterday.

The attacks are being linked to a feud between rival drug gangs.

Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh - in whose constituency two of the gun attacks were carried out - said up to nine people had been killed as a result of the feud in the past few years.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, Mr Ó Snodaigh said gardaí should be given more resources to deal with criminal gangs.

The first attack was carried out in Drimnagh in southwest Dublin at around 1pm in the afternoon. Five shots were fired at a house. A woman in her 50s was wounded and later admitted to hospital.

Gardaí believe a handgun was used and that the attack was connected to an ongoing feud between rival criminal gangs in the city.

Six hours later a man in his 30s was shot and wounded outside a gym on Malahide Road in Coolock in north Dublin. Gardaí believe the gunman intended to kill his victim.

Then at 10pm last night, three shots were fired at a house in the Coombe in the south inner city. No-one was injured in that incident.

It is understood all three shooting incidents are linked to the ongoing gang feud.
