A man in his 20s is being questioned after a man's body was found in an apartment complex in Limerick.
The body of Brendan McEvoy, who was in his 50s and originally from Carlow, was found on a stairway yesterday.
Gardaí believe he was the victim of an assault and may have been drinking with another man prior to his death.
A post mortem examination was completed late last night by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis, but further tests need to be carried out before he can give a definitive cause of death.
The man is being held at Henry Street Garda Station.
Following consultations with the Office of the DPP the man is due to appear before the District Court tomorrow to face a charge of assault.
