A six-year-old girl has been injured in a shooting incident in Limerick city.
She was playing in the front garden of a house at Lilac Court at the junction of Collins Ave and Southill when firearm was discharged shortly after 3pm.
The girl was initially taken to Mid-Western Regional hospital and has since been released.
Gardaí believe the girl was not targeted intentionally and say they believe two vehicles were involved.
Gardaí say a pump action shotgun and a number of cartridges were recovered from a derelict house in the Limerick area and that they are exploring all possibilities in relation to a motive for the shooting.
