Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming has told the Mahon Tribunal that the party was unaware of a $10,000 donation to fundraiser Des Richardson in 1994.
Mr Fleming, who was Fianna Fáil's financial controller from 1982 to 1997, said the party only learned of this donation last November.
He denied Mr Richardson informed him of the $10,000 donation by Manchester businessman Norman Turner.
Mr Fleming said Mr Richardson was appointed chief fundraiser in 1993 on a consultancy basis for a fee of £5,000 a month.
Mr Richardson worked out of a suite at the Berkeley Court Hotel and expenses were paid on the presentation of invoices.
All funds raised by Mr Richardson for Fianna Fáil were to be lodged to an account at Bank of Ireland Baggot Street.
Mr Fleming said a reference to the $10,000 donation was discovered in files handed in by Mr Richardson to party headquarters after he closed Berkeley Court office in 1999.
