A police officer was injured this morning near south Belfast in an operation to stop a man travelling erratically in a car.
The PSNI responded to a report that a man in a vulnerable state had left a house in the Ballyskeagh area close to Lisburn around 8.40am and had driven off in an erratic manner, colliding with a number of parked cars on the way.
At 9.50am police spotted the vehicle at the junction of Black's Road and the Upper Lisburn Road driving towards Dunmurry.
The PSNI said the driver was finally stopped and arrested after crashing the car again.
Police said one of their members was injured in the incident and that the Police Ombudsman's Office has been called in to investigate.
Traffic diversions are in place around the scene.
