Two men have been arrested in connection with a number of assaults in Dublin city centre last weekend.

Three young men received knife wounds to the face.

The men, who are in their late teens and early 20s, were assaulted in separate incidents on D'Olier Street and Fleet Street between 2.30am and 3am last Saturday morning.

Gardaí believe that, due to the proximity of the attacks and the nature of the victims' injuries, the same person or people were involved.

Two men were arrested in the Ballyfermot and Palmerstown areas of Dublin this morning as part of the investigation into the assaults.

The men, who are aged 22 and 25, are being held at Pearse Street and Harcourt Terrace Garda Stations.
