Mohamed al Fayed has abandoned his 10-and-a-half-year campaign to prove that his son, Dodi Fayed, and Britain's Princess Diana were murdered by the British security services.

Mr Fayed said he made his decision for the sake of Princess Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry.

In an interview with ITV News, he said that he had come to accept the verdict of the inquest 'with reservations'.

The jury found that the couple were unlawfully killed because of gross negligence of their driver, Henri Paul, and the paparazzi.
