An 83-year-old man has been left badly shaken after being threatened with a screwdriver during an aggravated burglary at his home today.
The incident happened in the Dunclug area of Ballymena around 1am when the pensioner answered his door to a man in his late teens who asked him for a cigarette.
The teenager followed the man into his house where he threatened him with a screwdriver.
He stole two rings from his hand, a mobile phone and a sum of cash before making off.
The pensioner was not injured in the assault but was left badly shaken.
The assailant is described as being 5ft 4in to 5ft 6ins and of medium build.
