A 32-year-old man who was injured during a row between football supporters in Belfast city centre yesterday remains critically ill.

The victim suffered head and neck injuries and is in the intensive care unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital.

He was assaulted after trouble broke out following the Irish Cup semi-final between Linfield and Cliftonville.

An SDLP member of Belfast City Council, Margaret Walsh, has called on the Irish Football Association to carry out a full investigation into what happened.
