A murder investigation has been launched following the deaths of a father and son in Co Kerry yesterday.
The bodies of 54-year-old Michael Hanrahan and his 27-year-old son Denis were found in their home in Moyvane.
Gardaí say they died as a result of extensive gunshot wounds and were shot while still in their nightclothes.
Over 70 gardaí are involved in the investigation.
A number of lines of inquiry are being followed and the possibility of burglary has not been ruled out. However, there were no obvious signs of a break in.
A shot gun was found in the house this afternoon.
Speaking on RTÉ's Six One News, Superintendent Kevin Donoghue of the Garda Press Office said gardaí are satisfied that the shotgun found at the house was owned by the family but it is not clear whether or not it is relevant to the murder investigation.
It is understood there are no formal suspects at this stage.
House to house inquiries in the area are continuing.
