Limerick - 15 shots fired at six houses
Limerick - 15 shots fired at six houses

Six houses in St Mary's Park Estate in Limerick were targetted in a gun attack last night.

The attack happened at around 8.45pm when a taxi pulled up on St Ita's Street in the estate.

An occupant of the car fired up to 15 shots at six houses on the street. It is thought that a machine gun was used in the attack.

The houses were occupied at the time, but no one was injured.

Gardaí believe the shots were aimed at houses occupied by members of one of the families involved in a long running criminal feud in the city.

The taxi used in the attack was stolen more than a week ago in the Caherdavin area of the city. It has since been recovered in Co Clare.

Garda patrols in the area have been stepped up.
