Michael McKevitt has won his fight for legal aid to defend the Omagh bomb compensation case.
58-year-old McKevitt from Blackrock in Co Louth is awaiting judgment in an appeal against a conviction in the Republic for directing the activities of an illegal organisation.
In the North he is one of five people named in a £14m civil action being brought by relatives of some of the victims of the Omagh attack in which 29 people died.
The High Court action is due to begin in Belfast next month.
