A former Irish Olympic coach has been found guilty of sexually abusing a young female athlete.

Keith Francis Burns, 64, of Silverhill in Enniskillen, had denied indecently assaulting the girl over an eight-year period between 1994 and 2002.

The victim was aged between 12 and 19 at the time.

It took the Dungannon Crown Court jury of eight women and two men just under three hours to convict him of seven of the nine charges he faced.

Burns has already been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register and will be sentenced next month.

He had been an Olympic trainer for 25 years during which time he coached athletes to five Olympic games.
