A staff nurse in Britain has been sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of the murders of four elderly patients.

At Newcastle Crown Court, Colin Norris was told he will serve a minimum 30 years in prison for giving four women lethal doses of the diabetes drug, insulin, when he worked at two hospitals in Leeds in 2002.

He was also found guilty of the attempted murder of another woman, and was sentenced to a minimum 20 years to run concurrently.

He had denied the charges.
