A man has been arrested following an early morning raid on a jewellery shop in Citywest.
The robbery happened at Ronan Campbell Jewellers in the Citywest shopping complex in west Dublin at around 1am.
It is understood a gang of three raiders broke down a main door into the shopping centre with hatchets, hammers and baseball bats, before smashing their way into the jewellery shop.
There they took large amounts of stock, including watches, diamonds, gold and silver jewellery.
It is thought the whole operation took eight minutes.
Gardaí, who were alerted to the raid, arrived on scene as the men were leaving.
A chase ensued, and one of the raiders was captured by gardaí.
A small amount of the stolen goods were subsequently recovered in follow up searches.
The shop only opened four months ago, and the shopping centre last September.
