A post mortem examination has been completed on the body of a young man who was found murdered on the banks of the Grand Canal in Dublin this morning.
21-year-old Darren Guerrine, from Bluebell in Dublin, was shot once in the back of the head with a shotgun.
Gardaí are still trying to establish a motive for what they say was a particularly callous and brutal killing.
Live ammunition has been recovered from the scene and officers, including the garda sub aqua team, have been carrying out intense searches of the area.
The victim was found at the back of the Jamestown Industrial Estate by a man on his way to work shortly before 8am.
