Red Cow Inn - Man questioned after nightclub shooting

A man is being questioned following the shooting of a nightclub doorman in west Dublin early today.

A 38-year-old man was shot in the neck at about 2am at Hush nightclub, Red Cow Hotel, Naas Road, Clondalkin, Dublin.

He was taken to Tallaght hospital where his condition is described as stable.

A motive for the attack has yet to be established and gardaí are examining CCTV footage taken around the time of the shooting.

Three hours after the attack, a 23-year-old man was arrested in Dolphin's Barn in south Dublin.

The man was arrested after a violent struggle with garda patrolling the area as part of Operation Anvil.

One of the gardaí sustained a broken bone in his hand during the arrest.

Gardaí also recovered a stolen Audi car and a loaded pistol.

It is believed the shooting may be linked to feuding gangs in the Drimnagh and Crumlin areas.

The man is detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who may have any information to offer.

In particular, they are anxious to speak to a man and a young boy who were near the doorway at the time of the shooting.
