Gardaí believe they have discovered a distribution centre for a Dublin-based drug trafficking gang.

Four men have been arrested and three firearms have been recovered following the seizure of €10.5m worth of cannabis in Co Kildare.

Officers stopped a car on the Naas Road at around 7.30am and arrested two men with 500kg of cannabis.

They subsequently searched a remote bungalow and sheds in Clongorey, near Newbridge, where another 1,000kg of cannabis was found.

The operation involved local gardaí and the Garda National Drugs Unit.

It is understood the raid was part of a garda operation targeting a north Dublin drug trafficker. He is one of the four men in custody.

Two cars and a truck have also been seized.
