A man has gone on trial accused of murdering another man in Dublin three years ago.
Peter Dolan, 42, denies murdering Raymond Brown ion Clonshaugh Drive in Coolock in April 2005.
He also denies assaulting another man, Emmet Taaffe, on the same occasion.
The Central Criminal Court today heard that a row had broken out on Clonshaugh Drive where it is claimed a resident was having difficulty with a group of youths.
Opening the case, prosecution lawyer Paul Burns SC said Mr Dolan had got involved in the altercation after leaving the pub with his wife and the father of one of the youths.
He told the court that the accused got a knife from another house and fatally wounded Mr Brown and caused injury to Emmet Taaffe.
The case is expected to last a week.
