Malta's parliament has unanimously ratified the European Union's Lisbon Treaty.
Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said the treaty would give Malta an extra sixth seat in the European Parliament, and that the country would be eligible for aid.
The Labour opposition, which had been against Malta's EU membership, said it agreed that the new treaty was good for the EU and for Malta.
