Drugs worth almost €1m have been seized in Ballymena, Co Antrim.

The PSNI say suspected ecstasy tablets and herbal cannabis were discovered when drugs squad officers stopped and later searched a vehicle in the town last night.

No arrests were made.

Earlier, a 26-year-old man has been charged with drugs offences after suspected cocaine worth an estimated €2,000 was seized last night at Carrickfergus in Co Antrim.

The drugs were found after a search of a house at Salia Park.

The PSNI say a car and other items were also removed.

The man has been charged with possessing a class A drug and possession with intent to supply.

He has also been charged with a number of motoring offences.
