A car dealership in Co Kildare has become the second in Ireland to face charges in connection with a suspected price fixing cartel.
The charges were brought against Duffy Motors, Newbridge Ltd and its director, Mr Patrick Duffy of Naas Road, Newbridge at a sitting of the District Court in Naas this morning.
At the same court another director of a Dublin-based car dealership, Mr James Bursey of Millbridge Avenue in Naas faced four charges in connection with the same investigation by the Competition Authority.
Duffy Motors is a Citroen dealership based on the Naas road in Newbridge.
In 2006 it was the recipient of the national Citroen sales dealership of the year award.
At the end of this morning's brief court hearing, Judge John O'Neill granted an application from the Director of Public Prosecutions for a six-week adjournment of the proceedings to allow for the preparation of the book of evidence.
The case was adjourned until 20 February in Naas.
