A 58-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the seizure of €200,000 worth of cannabis at Dublin Airport.
The woman had flown in from Geneva and the cannabis was found concealed in the base of a suitcase.
She was arrested as part of an ongoing Customs and Garda investigation into the activities of a drug trafficking gang and is the first suspected drug smuggler arrested this year.
So far more than ten people have been arrested as part of this investigation and substantial quantities of cannabis and cocaine have been seized. Four people have been brought before the courts.
The Garda National Drugs Unit along with the Garda's Immigration Bureau and Customs and Excise have been targetting the West African Drugs gang based in Dublin for the past three months.
