The parents of Paul Quinn have said they have been assured by the Minister for Justice that their son's killing will not be swept under the carpet.

Paul Quinn was murdered in a shed in Co Monaghan two months ago.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern briefly joined Stephen and Briege Quinn during their meeting with Brian Lenihan in Dublin this morning.

Mr Ahern assured them that everything was being done to find the 21-year-old's killers.

Mr and Mrs Quinn said they were satisfied that Paul's name had been cleared of links to criminality and they were satisfied with the pace of the investigation being conducted by gardaí and the PSNI.

SDLP MLA Dominic Bradley, who accompanied Mr and Mrs Quinn this morning, said the investigation was being hampered by the fact that the scene had been cleaned to remove traces of DNA.

Mr Bradley called Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy to withdraw earlier comments about Paul Quinn.
