Clarion Hotel - Woman's body found

Gardaí in Limerick are treating as suspicious the death of a woman whose body was found in a hotel bedroom in the city earlier today.

The woman who is described as middle-aged was found lying face down in a bath by cleaning staff at the Clarion Hotel in the city shortly after midday.

There were no visible marks to the body, however gardaí are awaiting the State Pathologist before any further examinations can be carried out.

It is understood gardaí are treating the death as 'highly suspicious' however, because of the position the body was found in.

There was no identification found in the room and detectives are still trying to establish the woman's identity.

CCTV footage from the hotel is being examined and staff and guests are being interviewed as part of inquiries.
