A couple with five children who made a fraudulent claim have been given suspended sentences at Wexford Circuit Court.
John and Kathleen Connors from Bunclody admitted falsely claiming that Kathleen sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident in the town seven years ago.
Mrs Connors claimed her husband had been driving the van at the time and lodged a claim against his insurance company.
However, a garda investigation revealed that she had crashed it after storming out of a pub following a row with John.
She had no licence or insurance and the claim could have cost the insurance company €250,000.
