Gardaí have begun an investigation after the discovery of what is believed to be human skeletal remains in a lake near Bodyke in east Co Clare.
A local fisherman who was on Lough Brigid yesterday contacted gardaí about something he had seen in the water.
Following a search of the lake, the remains were later recovered by the Garda Water Unit and taken to Limerick Regional Hospital.
It is understood the remains are considerably decomposed and may have been in the water for some time.
Further searches of the area at Lough Brigid will take place again tomorrow.
