A man suffered burns to his back and legs after his shed was set on fire this morning in Co Derry.

The victim was trying to retrieve property from the outhouse at Drumachose Park in Limavady, shortly after 7.30am following the suspected arson attack.

The PSNI says the fire spread to two houses causing substantial damage and the victim was taken to hospital.

An hour later there was a separate suspected arson attack at Roe Mill Gardens in the town, again starting in a shed before moving to a garage and the roof of the house.

A 76-year-old woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Detectives have appealed for information about both incidents.
