A murder investigation has been launched in Cork into the death of a man whose body was was discovered in a slurry pit on a farm in Shanlaragh near Dunmanway.
Preliminary results of a post mortem examination have indicated that the man died of head injuries inflicted by a blunt instrument.
Gardaí cannot say exactly when the man died but believe it may have been in the past fortnight.
The discovery was made on the Shanlaragh farm following a planned garda search yesterday.
The laneway leading to the farm where the body was found was cordoned off overnight and an examination of the farm was carried out by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
Meanwhile, a phone kiosk has been sealed off in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, in connection with the investigation.
The phone kiosk was sealed off at around lunchtime and gardaí conducted a technical examination which included taking finger prints from the phone and the area around it.
