Roy Behan, who had denied a charge of perjury in the Liam Keane murder trial four years ago, has been found guilty by a jury at the Circuit Criminal Court in Limerick.
Behan, 28 of Cherrydale Park, Dublin Road, Limerick was charged with knowlingly and falsely making a false statement at Liam Keane’s murder trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin in November 2003.
Liam Keane has been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Eric Leamy who was stabbed in Limerick in August 2001.
Roy Behan was one of three witnesses who retracted their statements in the witness box, and the trial collapsed.
At his retrial at Limerick Circuit court, the jury heard evidence that Behan had withdrawn the statement he made to gardaí because he feared for his safety and the safety of his family.
He claimed that members of the Keane crime gang offered him €30,000 in cash as an inducement not to testify, and warned him he would be killed if he did not withdraw his statement.
Sentencing of Roy Behan has been adjourned until 18 October.
