A post mortem is being carried out on the body of a young woman found on waste ground in Galway city.
It is believed the woman was 18 years old and a student from Switzerland who had recently come to Galway to attend college.
The body was discovered in undergrowth between Lakeshore Drive and Ceannt Railway Station at around 9.30am this morning by a man out walking a dog.
A full technical examination of the scene is also taking place.
Superintendent Tom Curley, who is leading the investigation, has appealed to the public for information in relation to last night's events.
