Walkinstown - Fatal shooting on Friday

Gardaí investigating the gangland killing of two men in Dublin three days ago have again appealed to the public for assistance.

Brian Downes, 40, and 24-year-old Edward Ward were both shot dead in an attack at a garage in Walkinstown on Friday night.

Gardaí say they would like to speak to any person who saw a motorbike with two men on board driving from the murder scene on Greenhills Road towards the Walkinstown roundabout, shortly before 10pm that night.

Mr Ward's widow, Jodie, said she heard noises that sounded like fireworks as she waited in a car for her husband to finish work.

The Ward family is offering a reward for anyone with information on the killing.

Mr Ward's brothers, Michael and Laurence, have also called on the Minister for Justice, Brian Lenihan, to put more resources into the gardaí to help tackle gun crime.
