A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting that left a man seriously injured in Limerick city in the early hours of this morning.
The victim, who was also aged 19, was shot in the back and abdomen in Saint Munchen's St in the St Mary's Park area of the city.
The injured man was admitted to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
He is in a critical condition in intensive care.
Gardaí believe the shooting was not part of a feud and no further arrests are expected.
The arrested man is being questioned by detectives at Henry Street Garda Station and can be held until Wednesday before being charged or released.
