The jury in the inquest into the death of a teenager after a fight outside a Dublin nightclub just over seven years ago has returned a unanimous verdict of death by unlawful killing.

18-year-old Brian Murphy died after being kicked and beaten outside Club Anabel at the Burlington Hotel in August 2000.

The jury returned the verdict after the Dublin City Coroner, Dr Brian Farrell, suggested it consider a verdict of unlawful killing.

Brian's parents, Mary and Denis Murphy, praised the Coroner's Court, but they said the criminal justice system was not facilitating justice or truth.
