Gardaí in Co Limerick are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a skip.

Workers at a private waste facility discovered the body when a waste lorry unloaded its contents in Grange, 13km from Limerick city, at 12.15pm this afternoon. Gardaí believe the man may have been in his 40s.

It is believed the lorry had originally gathered its waste in Limerick city. The body was initially brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick but has since been moved to Dublin for a post mortem examination.

Gardaí say that the results of a post mortem examination will determine the direction of their investigation.
