A 28-year-old man from Co Louth has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Drogheda last night.

The man is expected to appear before Drogheda District Court tomorrow morning.

28-year-old Colm Donlon was found in what gardaí described as suspicious circumstances in an apartment on Fair Street in the town at around 10pm.

When gardaí arrived at the apartment, they found the body of a man who appeared to have suffered stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, has carried out a preliminary post mortem examination and members of the Garda Technical Bureau remain at the scene.
