Gardaí in Co Tipperary have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí were called to a house in the Carrigeen housing estate in Clonmel at around 2.30am this morning where they discovered the body of a man in an upstairs bedroom.
The man is understood to have died from a suspected stab wound.
He was 45 years old and is thought to have originally been from Cork.
A 28-year-old man being held at Clonmel Garda Station in connection with the man's death has had his period of detention extended.
The house has been sealed off for a forensic investigation.
